Gulu City Council To Rebrand The Iconic Baby Elephant At Layibi Roundabout

It is alleged that, in 2019, Gulu City Council received a total of Ugx176, 650, 000 from United Nation Capital Development Fund -UNCDF to help in the branding and rebuilding Local Fiscal Space in the city.

From the above cost about sh56m was allocated for rebranding meanwhile sh88.7m was channeled for building and rebuilding of Local Fiscal Space.

The work should have started in 2020 but there were some delays in the procurement process coupled with the advent of covid-19 lockdowns.

This left the contractor, Vintage Expression with no option but to stagger for awhile.

The project was expected to handle the following in the city:

1.Setting up 3 elephant structures at Layibi Roundabout.

The Night View of The Recently Launched Gulu City Landmark.

2.Setting up a Monument at Pece War Memorial Stadium.

3.And, Planning a mega signposts at Gulu City Headquarters as well as a Billboard at the entrance of the city along Kampala-Gulu Highway.

Meanwhile, the balance of Ugx31, 950, 000 is to help in staff training, advertising and public relations as well as purchase of corporate wear for GCC staffs among others.
