Bomb blast killed two children in Gulu.
Residents of Bul-kur B village in Omel Sub County, Gulu district are nursing a grievance after the disastrous death of two siblings who died on Wednesday afternoon.
Morris Opiyo, aged 15, and his younger brother Ronald Rubangakene, aged, 12 died on spot after an unexploded artillery blew up on them at around 1:30pm while they were playing with it.
The bomb explosion also left two other children who are related to the two deceased teenagers injured. These two boys are Derrick Okello, aged 13, and one only identified with the name Lubangakene a 12 years old boy. Both are nephew to the deceased children.
According to reports, the four found the unexploded ordnance while harvesting brooms in a nearby bush and were playing with it when it detonated.
Okello and Lubangakene, who got injuries have been rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
These children are pupils of Bulkur primary school and they were sent home because of none payment of school fees.
An eyewitness identified as Lillian Arach, the area councilor3 Bulkur parish, reports that, the children had been hitting the explosive on the road when it exploded.
This explosive were believed to have been left behind during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) revolution in Northern Uganda.
